"Inspiration alone doesn't change instruction — implementation does."
The origin story
The problem she couldn't ignore.
Erica began her career in the classroom — learning firsthand what it takes to build student thinking, manage cognitive demand, and design lessons that actually stick. Those years as a practitioner gave her something no training program could: a deep understanding of what teachers need to grow, and what gets in the way.
That foundation deepened during her 7 years as a Program Manager at AVID Center, where she worked with districts and schools across the region to build instructional systems, coach educators, and create the kind of aligned, sustainable professional learning that moves the needle. It was there that she developed her expertise in systems thinking, coaching frameworks, and
What Erica believes
The principles behind the work.
PD must be actionable, not aspirational.
Inspiration fades. What stays is a clear strategy, a structured system, and the support to implement it consistently.
Strategy precedes innovation.
Teachers need concrete tools and strategies before they can redesign instruction. You can't innovate your way out of a foundation problem.
Reflection accelerates growth.
Without structured reflection cycles, teachers can't identify what's working or build on it intentionally. Reflection isn't extra — it's the engine.
Alignment reduces overwhelm.
When systems are clear and everyone is working toward the same instructional vision, teachers thrive instead of surviving.
Capacity-building beats dependency.
The goal of every partnership is a school that no longer needs external support — because the systems, language, and leaders are already there.
Students learn by thinking, not watching.
When teachers carry the cognitive load that belongs to students, everyone loses. Shifting that load is the most important work in any classroom.
